Nuss Bar

In the vibrant heart of Bangkok’s Old Town district lies the Nuss Bar, a new destination for cocktail enthusiasts in a city where new mixology concepts flourish daily. The bar complements the Nusara restaurant (which we discussed here), located in Tha Tien, an area rich in history and culture. The Nuss Bar offers a stunning view of the historic Wat Pho, which at nightfall becomes one of the most beautiful sights in Bangkok.

For this project, the acclaimed chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn and his brother Tam collaborated with Ronnaporn “Neung” Kanivichaporn, one of Thailand’s most-awarded bartenders (Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar – No. 19 in the World’s 50 Best Bars 2023, Find The Locker Room). This partnership allowed them to create a complete dining experience for Nusara, combining cocktails with Thai cuisine and making it a destination in its own right.

Since its opening, this space, adorned in electric red, golden metal, and velvet, has captivated locals and visitors, solidifying its reputation as a premier destination for a luxurious and superb night out in the Thai capital.

The owners’ vision is clear: to create a cosmopolitan space, small but full of life and energy, where classic cocktail-making blends with Thailand’s most distinctive flavors and ingredients. Neung has crafted a signature menu where the drinks take on the complex notes of certain dishes, such as the “Som Tam” papaya salad transformed into a Fizz where all its flavors, freshness, and spiciness can be found in a single glass. Ingredients like long-kong (langsat), combined with Raiyoddoi O’Sunshine, rum, lemon, and fleur de sel, have created one of Nuss’s most refreshing combinations – Longkong XYZ.

The success of Nuss Bar was immediate, swiftly establishing itself as one of the best bars in Bangkok. Its quality was recognized by publications such as “Travel + Leisure Asia,” “Asia Bars,” and the 50 Best Discovery, all within less than a year, hinting at a promising future.

Final Thoughts
The Nuss Bar in Bangkok is not just a place to drink. It’s a complete sensory experience that fuses the best of modern mixology with the city’s historical beauty and unique ingredients. For those seeking a night filled with cocktails in an elegant setting with an idyllic location, Nuss Bar is an unmissable destination. As a precious tip, schedule a visit to Wat Pho in the last hour, then cross the street to Nuss, let the twilight take the sun away, and the lights of Wat Pho come to life.

Finish with dinner at Nusara and thank me later!
