The Place Vendôme is one of the most beautiful and luxurious places in Paris, one of the French jewelry’s temples, of haute couture, art galleries and hotels, and one of my favorite places, where we already had one of the best hotel experiences (see).
Being so close to the Opera and the Louvre, stores, luxury hotels and having such an elegant atmosphere, make this square one of the most wanted in town.
The Hôtel de Vendôme is a true history mark in this square, being the number 1. It was constructed in 1723 by the same architect of the Palais de l´Élysée, Armand-Claude Mollet, for Pierre Perrin, the famous secretary of the Sun King (Louis XIV) and became the first luxury hotel in Paris. Since then it was a private residence, office headquarters and the Texas Republic embassy (in 1842).
The hotel owes its name to its location, once in 1685, Louis XIV bought the Vendôme Duke‘s mansion, to construct this iconic square of the French capital.
First Impression
When we find a place in one of the most beautiful squares, with three centuries of art, culture and luxury, we know our experience will be the best, and that allied to a warm welcome, making us feel at home, it’s perfection!
Right at the entrance we are graced with a cozy reception of a unique and elegant decoration, with a certain charm from the 20’s and the glorious Belle Époque!
We were quickly forwarded to the room, observing all the glamorous atmsphere around us.
Bedrooms
There are 29, 10 bedrooms and 10 suites. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which luxurious 40m2 overwhelmed me right away. An elegant place, with a classic decoration. A huge room, with highlight to the wood and the green and red/bordeaux tones, decorated with comfortable and velvety sofas and armchairs. A bedroom in the same style, with a comfy bed and a window with curtains falling from the skies, opening to the agitated Rue Saint Honoré!
Restaurant
The only restaurant of the hotel, 1Place de Vêndome, has all the necessary features to serve all the meals throughout the day, for events or as a bar.
And we can say this place is the hotel’s spotlight.
A completely cozy environment, with the elegance of Dior Grey’s decoration, and like the name indicates, the grey domains, mixed with pink in a perfect combination, making of it one of the most beautiful rooms I ever saw.
The cuisine is headed by the young chef Josselin Marie, who combines haute cuisine with fresh and traditional produce.
The restaurant is also the breakfast room, where we started the day with a great selection of products.
Services
As expected, the Hotel de Vêndome offers all the usual services of a five star hotel, from Concierge, room service 24/7, laundry service, Wi-Fi, private driver, parking area.
Although not having a spa, it has a massage service and treatments in the bedroom, and a contract with a private spa next to the hotel.
Those wanting to host events, conferences or meetings, it has a 160m2 room, the Belle Époque, prepared for several types of functions, or for celebrations or other events you have always the beautiful room of the 1 Place de Vêndome.
And of course, and being this square famous for its jewelers, there’s a wonderful Chopard store inside the hotel.
Service
Luxury service in Paris never lets us down, and the Hotel de Vêndome proved the rule once again.
A true smile welcomed us like we’re family, the care to use some Portuguese words to make our stay happier, and a constant attention to detail.
A charm hotel, member of the Small Luxury Hotels of The World group, of smaller dimensions than the usual giants of luxury hospitality, where we feel at home, an elegant space, with centuries of history, and most of all, one of the best locations, all this is the Hotel de Vêndome!
