In this article I’m gonna tell you about one of the most memorable hotel experiences ever, the one we had at Park Hyatt Vienna.
Everything with the Hyatt stamp has its quality and luxury guarantee, but the Park Hyatt in Vienna is much more than that. Obviously when we opted for this recent hotel in the Imperial Vienna we knew it would be a marvelous experience, but we didn’t suspect it would be so immensely perfect.
It is a relatively recent hotel, a little over a year old, opposed to the imposing building it is located on, once that counts with more than 100 years and used to be the headquarters of a bank.
Even before its opening it already had the great distinction from Forbes magazine for one of the “Top 10 High Profile Luxury Hotel Openings 2014” .
It seems like it was thought to the simplest detail (and it was!), from the majestic building of neoclassic style that allows to anticipate the luxury inside, to its privileged location at the “Goldenes Quartier “ worthy of any shopaholic, in the beautiful Am Hof square, being part of the Vienna quarter listed as World Heritage by UNESCO.
First Impression
Before entering, we are invaded with an elegance and class sensation, so much is the neoclassical beauty of the building that quickly transports us to an Imperial Era.
At the lobby, we go through an haunting moment diffused in silence that instantly overwhelms our soul into paradise! And we just whisper… “thank you for this moment!”
One of the most luxurious lobbies I ever been in, the marble takes care of the place while its white shinny color gives it an immense lordliness. We can observe in front of us an elegant entrance to a sumptuous space, that we would find to be The Bank, the restaurant of the hotel, and to the left a sober and elegant reception to where we were kindly forwarded.
And right there we realized the quality of the employees team, a quite above the average english, an honest sympathy and a very quick check-in.
We were accompanied to our room by a young employee that talked a bit about the hotel.
Quite positive note to the hotel’s security, not only the access to the elevator is only made with a room key (already common in some hotels), but also the access to the floor.
Bedrooms
One of the greatest ex-libris of the hotel (if we can say that, once the hotel itself is an ex-libris!) are the bedrooms. There are 143, including 35 suites, and we stayed in a Park Suite, which quickly transformed into one of the most luxurious and imposing rooms we ever stayed in (or should I say house?!).
Yes, that wasn’t a bedroom, it was a house!
An astonishing entrance, revealing the contemporary style combined with a Viennese elegance, present in the entire bedroom. On the right side, my perdition, the bathroom, which marble gave it an unpaired beauty, warm floors and Blaise Mautin products, with an aroma that transported me to another incredible experience (See), it completely overwhelmed me (not that I wasn’t already!). On the other side a closet that I wish I could bring home! And facing us a wonderful living room!
Still in the living room was a high door in golden and burgundy tones that gave access to the bedroom, a giant bed like I love, with a comfort worthy of angels, and wallpaper in the same tones of the door.
Luxury in its maximum exponent!
Restaurants/Bars
There are four gastronomic options at Park Hyatt Vienna, the The Bank, the Living Room, the Lounge and the Pearl.
The first one has an historical location, right in the center of action of the former bank! It is a huge room where elegance and luxury prevail and where we feel like in a ball room. It has a place, on sight of every guest, where the chefs thoroughly prepare all the dishes.
It’s dedicated to European cuisine but with its own touch of local produce. Here are also served the breakfasts, and is where I ate the best French Toast of my life (I was Sugar Free till that moment!), in a breakfast worthy of Princess Sisi and the Habsburgs!
About the breakfast I must highlight the careful selection of products, the majority of biologic production, the wide and well executed à la carte section, where we find the egg dishes and some sweets (Have I talked about the French Toast?!!!), a great selection of teas and of course, a flawless service to start the day in the best way possible.
We also had the chance to visit the The Bank for dinner. A different environment from the mornings, with a mid light room and a cosmopolite atmosphere (even though being a large hotel restaurant).
Well installed we enjoyed an excellent meal, with dishes of Central European and Mediterranean influence. We started with an excellent veal tartar (a generous dose, which revealed as the brand image, here you eat well and a lot) and a fresh smoked salmon, with vinaigrette, carrot and fennel. Both great starters!
As main dishes emerged at the table a champagne risotto and white catfish with saffron, and Rôtisseur chicken with grilled vegetables. All technically well executed and tasty, with highlight to the irresistible risotto.
And of course, we didn’t miss the desserts, obviously, with a peach melba and a classic chocolate Soufflé. Concluding, it was a great meal, in an environment that is hard to find in the restaurants of big hotels.
The Living Room translates into a space where the wood prevails, in a bucolic environment that transmits a sensation of well being. Here (for the lovers, which is not our case) it is possible to appreciate an excellent cigarette selection, accompanied by a range of meticulously chosen wines, among other drinks. A place to relax in the evening after an exhausting day of work or in a visit to the city.
As to the Lounge, it is the perfect place for a tea or a glass of wine at the end of the day, a place that makes us feel at home, with a marvelous pastry selection.
Last but not least, we have the charming Pearl, the place where Vienna’s elite mixes with the guests for a refined cocktail or wine with some little snacks. It has an exterior access alternative to the hotel, and it’s characterized by very tall windows from the floor to the ceiling, that give it a very unique charm.
Services
As I said, nothing in this hotel is left to chance, really nothing, everything is thought to the smallest detail, and for that, the services at Park Hyatt bridge the most demanding of the needs.
Room Service 24h and Concierge, babysitting at any time by booking, dogs are very welcome at the hotel, Limousine service from and to the airport, and Sightseeing Tours, are some of the many services the hotel offers.
To those in Vienna for business or events, Park Hyatt is the perfect place, there’s an entire floor dedicated to that, with an imposing room, and two small others, five meeting rooms and a lounge. Ideal to those looking for a conference place, congresses, business meetings, or even balls, weddings and great parties!
Changing from business to something very different, we head towards the paradise of relaxation, the well bring area of the hotel, Arany Spa and Fitness Area. With a gym to fulfill the needs of the most active ones (as you already know, not my case!), six treatment rooms, including one for couples, and a relaxation area linked to the pool, the Turkish Bath and Sauna, one of the most beautiful I ever seen.
Getting to know Vienna was imperative, but after entering this relaxation paradise, I confess I stole some time to the city and delighted myself around here!
Service
Nothing would be enough to qualify the service at Park Hyatt, but there are some adjectives coming to my mind: luxury, elegance, flawless service, welcoming, caress, discretion, art, grandiosity, fragrance…
Everything meticulously thought to assure the most memorable stay ever.
With just a bit over a year, Park Hyatt is already one of the most important hotels in the city, those who get to know it, fall in love, those who don’t, are anxious to.
The Hyatt Group, mostly the hotels of the Park Hyatt category, are the pinnacle of the hotel scene, and this one in Vienna is an accurate bet that combines perfectly with the charm of the city.
If you visit Vienna don’t miss this hotel exponent.
One of the best stays of my life!
