Ideally you should buy it online, see the available schedules and book the ticket for the desired time and language, because these visits can only be done with a guide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-98.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9646\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-98.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 98\" width=\"540\" height=\"699\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-98.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-98-231x300.jpg 231w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>The price of the ticket was HUF<em>\u00a0<\/em>2000 each (around 6.5\u20ac), pay attention because EU residents have a more accessible price, requiring just the presentation of an identification document or passport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Parliament is one of Budapest&#8217;s most imposing buildings and one of its best &#8220;postcards&#8221;. Its\u00a0haughtiness increases our curiosity to explore it. In a glimpse we understand its inspiration, the Parliament of the wonderful city of London (see the\u00a0<a title=\"London in 3 days \u2013 Day 1\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/en\/london-in-3-days-day-1\/\">London Guide<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-101.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9649\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-101.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 101\" width=\"540\" height=\"377\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-101.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-101-300x209.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>This one (for me) wins in the whiteness and purity of the color, giving it more life and harmony (but the London one wins with its Big Ben, obviously!).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The construction of the Parliament has origin in a neo-Gothic creation of\u00a0<em>Imre Steindl,\u00a0<\/em>who won the constestfor its construction, starting in 1885 and finishing only in 1904 (<em>Steindl<\/em>\u00a0got blind before the end of it). In the meantime there was a pre-inauguration in 1896 to celebrate the thousandh birthday of the Magiars arrival to town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-97.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9645\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-97.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 97\" width=\"540\" height=\"839\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-97.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-97-193x300.jpg 193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>Effectively, the inspiration in the London Parliament is noticeable, namely in its slim, spiralized pineacles, but\u00a0<em>Steindl<\/em>\u00a0introduced something new, a central atrium, round and Baroque, and a dome; in the center of it is kept the most valuable national symbol, the Sacred Crown (which cross is slightly inclined, nobody knows exactly why!). Another interesting curiosity is the fact of it supposedly being offered by the Pope to King Stephen in the year of 1000. This museum, curiously, was built by the second runner to the parliament construction contest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-93.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9641\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-93.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 93\" width=\"540\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-93.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-93-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>From here we head to the majestic neo-Renaissance building of the city, the <em><strong>Saint Stephen&#8217;s Basilica<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This sacred place had its fair share of problems during the construction. The first artist draw it in a neoclassical style but died before the end of the construction, after a while it colapsed, and the following artist,\u00a0<em>Mikl\u00f3s Ybl<\/em>, also died, before its conclusion, that took place in 1906;\u00a0and then suffered\u00a0great dimension prejudice during World War II.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But, a\u00a0troubled past, in nothing alters it current beauty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-42m.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9589\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-42m.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 42m\" width=\"540\" height=\"808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-42m.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-42m-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>The interior of the church is presented in the form of a Greek cross, with the floor in black and white marble.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the altar we are observed by a beautiful statue of Saint Stephen, while the dome, with 96 meters of height, is full of mosaics by\u00a0<em>K\u00e1roly Lotz<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-35.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9582\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-35.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 35\" width=\"540\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-35.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-35-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>But all of this is almost insignificant before the treasure we find in the interior of the basilica, the mummified right hand of Saint Stephen himself (or so they say! I have great difficulty believing these things!). I had missed that chance in Prague and Vienna, I wouldn&#8217;t miss it again in Budapest!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-113.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9660\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-113.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 113\" width=\"540\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-113.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-113-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Concert at Saint Stephen&#8217;s Cathedral\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We realized that once a week is held an organ concert at the basilica, accompanied by the violin, trumpet, a tenor and a soprano, and an exquisite selection of the classical music greatest works. Don&#8217;t miss this oportunity, usually there&#8217;s publicity at the entrance of the church or you can search online for the concerts happening on the dates of your visit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ticket price was HUF 6500 each (nearly 21\u20ac).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">\u00a0<a style=\"color: #999999;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-48.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9595\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-48.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste - 48\" width=\"540\" height=\"808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-48.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-48-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>Budapest Opera<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After visiting the basilica we headed to the <strong>Opera<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThis is one of the most sumptuous buildings in Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>We didn&#8217;t attend any opera (despite the prices being much more welcoming than in Vienna!) but the visit to its interior was worth it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-51.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9598\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Budapeste-51.jpg\" alt=\"Budapeste -
