The building, from 1858, was totally rebuilt to create these apartments that work as a small Hotel, to which the restaurant is associated, open from breakfast to dinner, with different proposals to each part of the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-2.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8469\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-2.jpg\" alt=\"bbgourmet1858 - 2\" width=\"540\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-2.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-2-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>But on to what really took us there, the presentation of the menu \u201c<em>Carta Branca<\/em>\u201d (35\u20ac p.p.), a concept that&#8217;s not still very rooted among us, where the guest hands himself to the chef without ever knowing what he\u2019s going to get.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We started the meal with a <em>Tonic Port<\/em>, made with <em>Tawny<\/em> instead of <em>White Port<\/em>, sweeter but interesting to open the night. Accompanying, water bread, <em>broa de Avintes<\/em> (corn bread) and olive paste.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-8.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8475\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-8.jpg\" alt=\"bbgourmet1858 - 8\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-8.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-8-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Falafel<\/strong> <em>with Middle Eastern flavors<\/em><br \/>\nA dish that takes us in a nice trip to the flavors of the Middle East, from the yogurt and lemon sauce to the freshness of the cucumber, everything worked well with the <em>falafel<\/em>, well prepared and seasoned (although one of them was overcooked).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-7.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8474\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-7.jpg\" alt=\"bbgourmet1858 - 7\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-7.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-7-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Tuna, mackerel<\/strong> <em>and citrus<\/em><br \/>\nA bold presentation that required more technical domain in the cutting of the elements. In terms of flavor, this deconstruction of the <em>nigiri<\/em> was well accomplished, with the acidic elements working nicely with the fatness of the fish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-6.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8473\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-6.jpg\" alt=\"bbgourmet1858 - 6\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-6.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-6-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Grilled octopus,<\/strong> <em>violet puree, seaweed (wood ear mushroom) and sweet potato chips<\/em><br \/>\nThis was the most consensual dish and also the best achieved\u00a0of the evening. An excellent violet puree, made with red onion, tender and well prepared octopus, with the seaweed bringing the sea to the table in a more intense way and the chips giving a crunchy element helping to give dimension to the dish. Very good.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-5.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8472\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-5.jpg\" alt=\"bbgourmet1858 - 5\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-5.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-5-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Crispy suckling pig,<\/strong> <em>fried rice, bacon, rocket and citrus vinaigrette<\/em><br \/>\nThe suckling pig is almost a mandatory dish in Portuguese restaurants. Here presented with lighter elements as sides, good vinaigrette, less interesting the fried rice (some kind of corns made with basis in rice flour). As to the suckling pig, in one of the dishes\u00a0it was flawless, crackling skin and succulent meat, on the other it was less accomplished, with soft skin and more cooked meat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8471\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-4.jpg\" alt=\"bbgourmet1858 - 4\" width=\"540\" height=\"810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-4.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-4-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Palate cleanser \u2013 Greek yogurt smoothie with red fruits and kiwi <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-3.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8470\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-3.jpg\" alt=\"bbgourmet1858 - 3\" width=\"540\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-3.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-3-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/bbgourmet1858-3-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Chocolate textures<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Bbgourmet<\/em> is known for\u00a0the French basis pastry and much in particular by its <em>entremets<\/em>. For dessert was presented one of those, a chocolate cake associated with a mousse and crumble. An interesting dish for the chocoholics, sweet enough, accompanied with a light red fruit coulis and vanilla foam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Accompanying the meal was a <em>Quinta da Fronteira Sel.<\/em> from <em>En\u00f3logo 2011<\/em> of <em>Companhia das Quintas<\/em>, served at the correct temperature. A wine with the classic Douro profile, with good structure and wood integration, worked nicely with the dishes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The service is relaxed and it\u2019s evolving (the spaced opened just a few days ago), although showing already a nice accuracy in the service and explanation of the dishes (essential when opting for this kind of menu).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Final Remarks<\/strong><br \/>\nI like the <em>bbgourmets<\/em>, the way they offer a more current cuisine with fair prices, with a wide offer of products, solutions and spaces with an interesting environment. This new <em>1858<\/em> is no exception, the space is tastefully decorated, with sophistication, and the restaurant combines with an elegant terrace with an executive menu, promising to be an excellent spot for the evenings in the center of town. The cuisine presents good ideas and a good notion of\u00a0what is expected for this bolder concept. However still presents some technical flaws, typical of a new space, without the mechanics of the kitchen well implemented yet.
