It also served has headquarters of the Turkish Parliament, until it was ruined by a great fire in 1910. Given its proximity to the Besiktas neighborhood, its gardens served as stadium of the famous football club for years, in 1989 a Japanese consortium acquired the palace and restored it in its original form and added a luxurious hotel to its complex, nowadays managed by the Kempinski Group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-31.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7027\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-31.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 31\" width=\"540\" height=\"304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-31.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-31-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>The palace is astonishingly charming, from the luxurious details on its interior, to the beautiful and charming view over the <em>Bosphorus<\/em>. But it\u2019s about its restaurant,\u00a0<em>Tu\u011fra<\/em>, I\u2019m here to talk to you about today. Located well inside the palace, in some wide and splendorous rooms with view to the river, creating, for sure, the most romantic ambiance in the city. The cuisine promises an Ottoman inspiration, in the kitchens of its former palaces with one or another touch of the French <em>Haute<\/em> Cuisine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-8.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7005\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-8.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 8\" width=\"540\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-8.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-8-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-8-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>Already installed in a huge table, with all the details and comfort, we are presented with a glass of champagne (the inevitable marketing king,<em> Mo\u00ebt &amp; Chandon<\/em>) and the interesting Turkish <em>Sherbets<\/em>, of very icy fruits and flowers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the excellent quality bread (a constant in the country), butter and a gratin cheese trio with a tomato sauce, resulting in an excellent beginning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-21.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7018\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-21.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 21\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-21.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-21-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Amuse Bouche &#8211;\u00a0Vine leaf stuffed with rice <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-15.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7012\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-15.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 15\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-15.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-15-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><em><strong>Tu\u011fra Meze<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nWe chose to start our meal (similar to all the other tables, I think) with a selection of<em> Meze<\/em> (Turkish appetizers). To choose from there was a bit of everything, hummus, melon with cheese and rose water, roasted eggplant with pomegranate, shrimp with plum sauce, vine leaf stuffed with onion, lentil <em>kofte<\/em>, cheese curd with herbs, tomato and pinions, chicken paste with chestnut and a species of fava beans <em>aspic<\/em>. Without being enthralling, all of them were very well prepared, with highlight to the hummus, the chicken paste and the <em>kofte<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-16.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7013\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-16.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 16\" width=\"540\" height=\"810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-16.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-16-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Selection of hot appetizers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nicely fried calamari and an interesting tartar sauce with nuts. <em>Pa\u00e7anga B\u00f6rek<\/em>, a kind of filo dough roll with <em>Pastirma<\/em> (Turkish <em>Pastrami<\/em>), cheese, tomato and pepper, strong flavors in a great starter. Also a great<em> Sac Oru\u011fu<\/em>, a Bulgur pastry stuffed with minced meat, nuts and seasoned with <em>sumac<\/em>. We also tasted an excellent roasted shrimp with <em>ka\u015fkaval<\/em> cheese, tomato and sweet pepper, and a dough (<em>Piruhi<\/em>) stuffed with meat in a yogurt sauce and tomato with butter. All the Turkish specialties were great and more interesting than the cold <em>meze<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-26.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7022\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-26.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 26\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-26.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-26-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Turbot from the Black Sea,<\/strong> <em>vegetables, potato pancake, brioche, samphire, ginger and mastic sauce<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A dish in which the influence of the\u00a0<em>Haute Cuisine<\/em> is noted, with flawlessly prepared vegetables, like a tureen and with perfect cooking. Excellent quality fish, very well prepared (excellence note to the mastery of the head waiter removing the turbot\u2019s skin). The sauce fully served its purpose, uniting all the elements and giving a new dimension to the dish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To go with, a <em>Premium Chardonnay of 2012<\/em> from <em>Sevilen<\/em>, one of the main wines of the caste made in Turkey, modest nose, light fruit and wood aromas, but intense in the mouth, with tropical fruits and an excellent use of the wood. Great combination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-27.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7023\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-27.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 27\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-27.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-27-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong><span class=\"st\"><em>k\u00fcnefe<\/em> <\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Turkish are known for their desserts and this traditional<em> k\u00fcnefe<\/em> (dough like angel hair, stuffed with cheese, roasted and plunged in syrup served hot, left a memory. Excellent combination of textures and good sweetness balance, in a fantastic dessert which origin dates from the XI century. Delicious.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-10.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7007\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-10.jpg\" alt=\"tugra - 10\" width=\"540\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-10.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-10-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/tugra-10-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong><em>Cinnamon Halvah<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nSesame puree with molasses, nuts, pinions, butter and cinnamon with milk ice cream. A strong dessert, with intense flavors and dense texture, balanced by the lightness of the ice cream. From the kitchen come dishes of palace inspiration, but as I see it, much more modern and with French cuisine touches. We lacked the tasting of one of the iconic dishes of the house, \u201c<em>Testi<\/em>\u201d, a lamb stew prepared in a clay jar that is broken on the table before serving (all the show of seeing the serving of this dish spiked my interest). As to the Room, as I said, everything works harmoniously, and it was certainly one of the best services we experienced in the city. In case you stay, or not, at the hotel when you visit Istanbul,<em> Tu\u011fra<\/em> is a right bet for a long and romantic dinner, with the <em>Bosphorus<\/em> as background.
