From the interesting location to the cozy decoration, the main focus of this space is the attention to the client and its personalized service. Managed by a French in love with Istanbul, the Hotel\u2019s restaurant had to be all about Gallic cuisine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cuisine idealized by Alex Varlik and his Chef Clarisse Muge \u00d6zden intends to recreate a relaxed environment, in a modern Bistro style with a view over the Bosphorus, the best from the traditional French cuisine, like a granny would cook to her grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-11.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6916\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-11.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 11\" width=\"540\" height=\"810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-11.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-11-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>Well settled in the sofas of the nice room on top of the Hotel, delighted with the view (pity we couldn&#8217;t enjoy the balcony because of the cold), we started our meal, as it should, with good bread, slightly toasted, and butter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-1-.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6906\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-1-.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 1\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-1-.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-1--300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Escargots,<\/strong> <em>parsley and garlic butter<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the idea is classics and \u201csimple\u201d comforting cooking, then we couldn&#8217;t have started in a better way. Small <em>escargots<\/em>, perfectly cooked and with nice flavor. As to my taste they could had a bit more butter (my nutritionist doesn&#8217;t read my blog)!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To go with, a nice <em>Chardonnay, Urla 2013<\/em> from the Izmir region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-2.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6907\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-2.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 2\" width=\"540\" height=\"810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-2.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-2-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Smoked Salmon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Well prepared classic, good quality fish, slightly smoked; went very well with the toasted bread.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To accompany, another Turkish wine, from <em>Domaine Umurbey<\/em>, a <em>Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Tekirda\u011f<\/em>, a wine with the usual caste characteristics, well balanced body and acidity, which worked very well with the Salmon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-41.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6921\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-41.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 4\" width=\"540\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-41.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-41-300x296.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Scallops,<\/strong> <em>vanilla Jerusalem artichoke puree<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A visually appealing dish, with flawlessly cooked scallops. The puree was also good, with the vanilla well integrated, not overpowering the other flavors; also good the integration of the texture and sweetness of the peas and the lightness brought by the orange. Very good.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-5.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6910\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-5.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 5\" width=\"540\" height=\"810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-5.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-5-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Lamb leg,<\/strong> <em>Potato puree with hazelnut<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another visually appealing dish, using one of the main Turkish ingredients, the Lamb. Succulent meat, falling apart, with good flavor and a delicate and greedy sauce. Positive note also to the puree with the integration of the hazelnut and the vegetables <em>al dente<\/em>. Delicious.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-6.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6911\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-6.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 6\" width=\"540\" height=\"801\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-6.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-6-202x300.jpg 202w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>To go with, a bit of Portugal, directly from Douro a <em>Pombal do Ves\u00favio 2009<\/em> from Symington (the wines from <em>Quinta do Ves\u00favio<\/em> were our company during this trip to Istanbul), a perfect harmonization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-8.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6913\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-8.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 8\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-8.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-8-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Cheese plate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A French restaurant without cheese would never really be considered one. <em>Camembert<\/em>, <em>Petit Chevrot<\/em>, <em>Comt\u00e9<\/em> and <em>Roquefort<\/em> were the selected ones, in a dose so big it would be enough to feed a family (in reality it served us two, and I don\u2019t remember any leftovers). Good quality cheeses, served at the right temperature, with highlight to the <em>Petit Chevrot<\/em> and the <em>Comt\u00e9<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-9.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6914\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-9.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 9\" width=\"540\" height=\"810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-9.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-9-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><em><strong>Tart Tatin<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A simple ending, with one of the most familiar desserts of the Gallic menus. Well prepared, good base and the fruit on spot, with good caramelization and without the usual excess sweetness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Service was of an extreme sympathy (and genuine), calm and relaxed as the space requires.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-10.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6915\" src=\"http:\/\/www.flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-10.jpg\" alt=\"Georges - 10\" width=\"540\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-10.jpg 540w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-10-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/flavorsandsenses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Georges-10-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><strong>Final Remarks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Le Fumoir<\/em> is a restaurant that represents in its fullness the spirit of the Hotel it is inserted in, good service, relaxed and informal environment, but with all the small luxuries (that whether we like it or not, make all the difference). The view of the restaurant over the city and the Bosphorus are the first invite to go there, then, the cuisine of young Clarisse, without jugglery, uncomplicated, and comforting with good ingredients, makes us want to come back. No, it is not the best French restaurant outside the country, but it also doesn\u2019t aspire to it, it wants to be a honest space with good food, something like taking an old lady from Burgundy to cook in a nice and luxurious loft in New York.
